The joys of hectic Sunday mornings

Even though we have 11:00 church, I still have to get up by 8:00 to be ready in time. And that means walking out the door at 10:55. So this morning started out like normal until Dale got out of the shower and realized that he had forgotten to pick up his dry cleaning and this happened to be one of those times when he took EVERYTHING to be cleaned. Luckily he was able to dig out some old pants but had to wear a creme colored shirt which he really doesn't like to do. I had to teach Relief Society for the first time today so I was really nervous about it and was kind of scattered brained as my thoughts were on that. Well, we made it in the chapel before the meeting started so I was feeling pretty pleased with myself. During the sacrament, Kyson came up to me and said "Mom, I left my underwear at home!" I couldn't believe it. I looked down his pants and sure enough he was a naked nelly, as he calls himself when he's naked. Not only did he not have underwear on but his pants were on backwords. That tells me two things. First, he was observant enough to know I was out of it and went to the bathroom without even telling me and then got himself redressed. Second, I was really out of it not to notice my sons pants were on backwords until 15 minutes into sacrament meeting. I just hope when I have to teach next week, I manage to get all my own clothes on right!

Kids make you feel so great!

Yesterday I was getting Jake ready for school and was combing his hair. I hadn't had a shower yet and my hair was mess. I also have ugly sores on my lips from being sick. He looked at me and said "Mom, you look really old. But you're still my mom!"

Thank goodness for Text Messaging!

Tonight I was very thankful for text messaging. My allergies have gotten so bad that I haven't been able to go to my boys baseball games. With the wind here in West Jordan, I know that I will never be able to get them under control if I spend hours sitting in the wind watching baseball. This is killing me more than the allergies are! I love watching my boys play baseball! Tonight was especially hard because Jadon's team was playing the team that he played on last year and I really wanted them to beat them. I know, that's not very sportsmanlike. Oh well. Anyway, Dale knew that it was killing me to miss the game so he kept me up on what was going on by text messaging. I wanted his team to win so bad and was just waiting for the text to come that said they were ahead. Instead, he sent a text that said Doyle's family stopped by his game for a minute after Logan's game and at the time Jadon was up to bat and hit a double then when they were in the outfield, Jadon got two guys out. That was it! That was all I needed. I no longer cared if they won because I knew how happy Jadon was that he was playing so good. It didn't matter that they lost (only 6-9) it really did only matter that they played a good game!

All done with cub scouts!

Last night Jadon received his Arrow of Light, the highest award in cub scouts. It seems like just yesterday that I was sending him out the door to cub country as a brand new scout. I love how much Jadon loves scouting. He loves to be outdoors and learn new things. I was at the cabin for several days with my kids and Jadon was such a great help. He always helps me load and unload the van. He speant hours outside sledding. When it was time to go home he went out and scraped all the snow off the van before I was even ready to pack up the van. I really am thankful for such a great kid. He's going to make such an awesome father and husband someday (If he ever likes girls!).

A tribute to Kierra

Today Kierra turned nine! I can't believe that 9 years ago we had a baby girl, four weeks earlier than we planned. Kierra loves to hear the story of me going to the hospital in the middle of the night, escorted by the police car that pulled Dale over. Since the day she was born, Kierra has been a happy little girl. She loves to make other people happy. Just today her friend gave her a chocolate bar for her birthday. She immediately opened it and broke off a piece for her, her friend, and all her brothers. She gave her Dad 3 pieces because she knows how much he loves chocolate! She is wonderful with Jake and Kyson and rarely gets tired of playing with them. She is constantly hugging and kissing them. She will be a wonderful mother. For Kierra's birthday Dale and I took her out to lunch at her favorite place, Panda. At night she got to spend her birthday the same way she does every year...at a baseball game.

She is such a good sport to go to so many baseball games. Tonight Jadon was playing so I took a picture of her standing in front of the field while Jadon was up to bat. Once again, we were freezing but it was an awesome game! They won by so much that they called the game after the 4th inning ended. The baseball park is a place that I am very thankful for Kierra. She always keeps Jake and Kyson entertained so that I can enjoy the game. Most of the time she finds a friend or two there to help her and they all have a great time together.

After the game, we went to Arctic Circle (Kierra's choice) for dinner and then went home to open her presents. Her brothers were very excited to give her presents. I think she had a good birthday. Will be going to the cabin after baseball games tomorrow night because that's what she said she wanted to do for her birthday.
I am very thankful to have Kierra in our family. I really don't know what we would do without her loving personality around all these boys. Not that they aren't loving, but a girl is just different.

I love Conference

There's a lot that I love about General Conference. Besides the fact that I don't have to get the whole family ready for church and we can stay in our jammies, I love the feeling in our house. I like to make a big breakfast like my mom always use to do so that we're all eating together when the first session starts. I love to listen to what all the wonderful brothern have to say and it makes me want to try harder to be a better person. In the past, the kids have played conference BINGO. This year Kierra went to a Primary activity with her cousin and got a whole packet of conference games to do while watching conference. She spent a lot of time making copies for her brothers and passed them out right before conference started. The kids were all excited to work on them together. I even had fun coloring one.
Believe it or not, Kyson was the last one left coloring his conference papers. The other kids sat there for pretty long but Kyson stayed there and colored and colored. Everything orange of coarse, including Jesus. While I was listening to the wonderful talk from M. Russell Ballard about mothers, I watched him color and was so thankful for the opportunity that I have to be a mother!

What a way to start the season!

Tonight was Jaxon's first game. He has a very dedicated coach who has the team practicing 5 nights a week. Well it payed off tonight. The team played really well and they won the game 11-0! Jaxon was so excited. Besides freezing our tushies off, we had a great time. I love getting back to the ball park. One of my favorite sounds in the world is the sound of the bat hitting the ball. It's even better when you know it's your kid that made that sound!

Funny April Fools story

Kierra was so excited that it was April Fool's Day today. She had a joke planned for a while. She decided that she wanted to wear an ace bandage on her arm and tell people she broke her arm. I saw no harm in this so I wrapped her arm and told her to have fun with her joke. I had no idea how far she was going to let this little joke go. When she got home from school I asked her if she fooled her teachers (she has team teachers). She told them that she fell off her trampoline and broke her arm but can't get a cast for a few days. I asked her when did she tell her teachers it was a joke. She actually didn't tell them till the end of the day which means the teacher that teaches in the morning, and leaves at lunch time, never found out. The best part about it is that she had the bandage on her right hand so her teachers had the little girl who sits next to her do all her writing for her ---all day! I can't wait to talk to her teachers at school tomorrow when I go in to volunteer. I hope they have a good sense of humor!
