Kierra's dance recital

Last night we went to what may be Kierra's last dance recital. She has been taking dance for 4 years and we go through the same thing every year. I have to drag her to dance practive every week and she always complains about going. When it comes to performance night, she decides that she loves it and wants to sign up for dance again the next year.

She has the most fabulous dance teacher ever and it makes me really sad to think of her not dancing. I love going to her dance recitals and she loves performing. She just doesn't want to practice. As I was getting her ready for her performance she told me she would take dance again if I wanted her to. I told her that I really want her to but only if she wants to. It makes me sad to think of her quitting but I think she's old enough to decide what she wants to do. We have to decide by Monday because that's when the registration for next year is and Liz always fills her class up in one day.

Memorial Day Weekend

We started out our Memorial Day weekend at the cannery. My Mom & Dad are service missionaries there and arranged a day for my family to go get some of our food storage. We had a great time and are thrilled that we got a big chunk of our long term food storage taken care of. Jadon loved it there and can't wait to go back. I loved seeing my parents work as missionaries and can't wait to serve a mission with Dale someday. We went out to dinner as a family that night and was lucky enough to get a table in the back right behind the kitchen. Most people would think that was a terrible spot but it makes us less on edge with our kids. We had a great dinner! Church was good. A new family in our ward spoke. They have 7 kids and seem to be a neat family. I was a substitute for Jadon's class and all I can say is how thankful I am for my son. He is a great kid and does what he is suppose to. There were several boys in the class that were so obnoxious and rude to the girls. Jadon and his best friend, Andrew, just observed everything that was going on. They were both dressed in blue suits and looked like little missionaries. Since it was a holiday the next day, we stayed up late and watched a movie as a family. Today we got the chance to do some things inside since it was pouring all day. I got all my kitchen counters cleaned off and got all the laundry done...and put away. It was a good day and a fun weekend!

Birthdays can be fun even when you're turning 36!

I had a great day today! It started out by taking Kierra to get her dance pictures taken. It was just her and I and on the way we listened to her IPOD shuffle and sang all the songs together. After that we all went out to Village Inn for breakfast. I had yummy strawberry crepes and everybody ate every bite of their meals. Bonus! After Village Inn we went to the ballpark to watch Jadon and Jaxon play in their baseball games. It was the first games of the season where we didn't have to bring blankets, coats and gloves and huddle together to keep warm. It was so nice to sit in the sun and watch the games.
I had to leave to games early to meet my friends because we were all heading up to Park City to go shopping to celebrate mine and Michelle's birthdays. We started out our shopping trip with pretzels from Mrs. Fields. Yummy! We had so much fun shopping. I was especially thankful to those who helped me find some cute maternity clothes, despite the mean sales lady!
We stayed at the stores until they kicked us out and then headed down to the valley to have dinner at Training Table. Boy was that fun! I thought I was going to choke because we were laughing so hard. I absolutely love my friends! It meant the world to me that everyone found a way to leave their families for a night. When I got home, the house was clean. That was one of the best birthday presents I could ask for. Dale and the kids had it all cleaned up. So even though I feel very old (especially because I'm going to have my 6th child at the age of 36) I had a wonderful day and will never forget it!

Want a good laugh?

If you ever need a good laugh, try taking Jake to get a haircut! I took him today, told the lady what I wanted done to his hair, and then sat on the chairs and watched. He started out by asking the lady how many kids she had. After he told her the names and ages of all his siblings, he started telling her about the Wii. She told him that they just bought one for their family. He asked her what games they had and she told him Guitar Hero. He said "Oh, that's T for teen. I can't play that". Then he told her that nobody should ever watch rated R movies except for satan. I was laughing so hard while listening to this conversation. He didn't stop talking to her for the whole haircut. I wish that I could have a tape recording of that conversation.

A great night at the ballpark

Both Jaxon and Jadon were playing baseball at the same time tonight. I don't like it when that happens because I really like to watch the whole game instead of going back and forth and missing parts of each game. Both boys were playing their version of the Athletics. Jadon's team had a nice easy game and beat them 10-1. Jaxon's game wasn't that easy! They were tied for 1st with this team so, of coarse, both teams really wanted to win. There was a lot of yelling from the coach and parents of the other team and it was very stressful to sit and try and watch the game. For most of the game the A's were ahead. Luckily, our team came up from behind in the last inning and we beat them 7-6. It was so exciting but I don't want to go to a game that stressful again!

A Wonderful Mother's Day!

I had a very surprisingly good Mother's Day. Dale was in California with Jadon, his brother and his mom to celebrate his birthday a little early at Magic Mountain. They were going to be home after we got home from church. The kids were excited for Mother's Day and before I put them to bed on Saturday, Kierra asked me not to wake her up. At 7:45 am all the kids came into my room to say "Happy Mother's Day!" I was very surprised to see Jaxon holding a big basket with all my favorite things in it. I was not expecting it at all. It had 3 books, new jammies, gift certificate for a pedicure and all my favorite candies in it. Then all the kids had their cute little Mother's Day cards and poems that they made in school. I don't know if it was the fact that I was missing my husband so much or what but I was very touched by all of it. It meant so much to me that Dale took the time to go to several different stores to get the things he knew I would love. I was also very impressed that my kids didn't say anything about the basket all weekend. It was a great day and I feel very blessed!

This is what happens when kids learn to do their own tattoos!

My kids got a packet of tattoos at Butlerville days last summer and since then every one of them has learned to put their own tattoos on. One night after the kids got ready for bed, Jaxon thought it would be funny to put tattoos on Jake and Kyson's little bums. Jake and Kyson came running in to show them to us. All we could do is laugh. It was really cute to see super hereos on their bums!

Conversation with my 3 year old

Kyson came inside one day and said to me "Mom, I picked 2 of your pink tulips. Are you mad or sad or just frustrated?" I told him I was mad and sad. He said "Please just be sad because when you are mad, you spank me!"

"Rocky"

It has been a very interesting week around our house. It all started on Monday when I picked Jaxon up from baseball practice.
He told me that he had a rock in his ear. I asked him how it got there and he told me he put it in there at school. So I come home and told Dale and we proceeded to try and get it out. We tried using tweezers but the rock was too tight in his ear to get the tweezers around it. I called his Dr. (it was 9:00 at night) and she suggested taking him to the ER because the longer it was left in, the more irritated it would be and make it harder to get out. I didn't want to pay for the ER so I took him to an instant care. BIG mistake! They first tried flushing it out with water and then tried to get it out with tiny forceps. In doing this, they actually pushed it back further so it was resting right on his ear drum. The whole time he is crying and screaming and trying to get away. They gave up and told me I should take him to an ENT the next day. Well that was a fun night. He was in a lot of pain and was crying all night. He ended up in our room and of all times to be out of Motrin, this was not the time I would of picked. I had to give him adult Tylenol. For those of you who know Jaxon, giving him a pill is like...I have no idea what to compare it to, but it's hard. So it's 2:00 in the morning and I'm feeding him ice cream to get him to swallow this pill. I also gave him Benedryl in hopes that he would sleep:) In the morning, it took several calls to find an ENT that would fit him in. Luckily, the one who agreed to see him was at Jordan Valley which is way close to home. This time I told Dale he had to come since I knew Jaxon was going to go balistic! I had no idea how bad this was going to turn out. The ENT worked on getting that blankety blank rock out of his ear for 2 hours. Not because the rock was to lodged in there to get but because Jaxon was freaking out so bad. Every time the Dr. came near him, he would cry and put his hands up to his ear. We tried pinning him but that didn't work either. Dale, the nurse and I all held him down and he still got away from our hold. By this time both Dale and I were very frustrated because we couldn't understand why he couldn't just hold still for 20 seconds to get it out. I know you're thinking that we finally got it out. WRONG! We had to go to a surgical center the next day and have him put to sleep to get a tiny rock out of his ear. So this dumb little rock that he put in his ear took us 3 days and over $1,000 to get it out! The picture shows how little the rock was (if you can even see it) and it's sitting in front of one of those hospital bands. Can you believe it? So tell your kids this story so that they won't ever even think of putting a rock in their ear! Dale has given Jaxon the nickname "Rocky", hence the title of this post.
