One excited baseball player!

Jaxon is so super excited for his first baseball game. They have been practicing for 2 weeks and his first games is suppose to be this Friday. Unfortunately, I don't think the weather is going to cooperate. Last night he layed his uniform, from head to toe, out on the floor to see how he was going to look. He's so excited this year because his coach is letting him pitch. It will be fun to go to his first game!

4 months old

Katie was 4 months old yesterday so I thought I would take some pictures of what she looked like when she woke up. She is always super happy in the morning. She frequently wakes up in our bed and when I look over at her she has a huge smile on her face. She'll smile over and over for about 1/2 an hour until she figures out that she's hungry. We all love to talk to her and kiss her while she is so happy. It's a fun way to start the day!

a long road ahead of us

After Katie recovered from her Urinary tract infection that she got when she was 3 months old, her doctor wanted to do a test to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with her anatomy. Well, she failed the test! We took her to Primary's on Friday for an ultrasound and an X-ray. When she had the ultra sound the doctor said that her left kidney was dialated so they put some die in her body through a cathater and watched on an X-ray machine as she went pee. It turns out that she has two tubes going from her kidney to her bladder on one side (she should only have 1). She has pretty bad urinary reflux. The radiologist said cases like this usually require surgery but said we should take her to see a urologyst. Before she had this test, Katie's pediatrician said that they would keep her on an antibiotic for a while to see if the problem fixes itself. I guess that's what we get for thinking that Katie was going to be out first child without some weird problem.

Funny conversation with Jaxon - age 8

Jaxon: Mom is it ok if I play in the NBA when I grow up?
Mom: sure
Jaxon: Will I have to play on Sunday?
Mom: probably
Jaxon: Maybe if I'm super good they will want me on their team really bad and won't make me play on Sundays.
Mom: Maybe
Jaxon: If not, I'll just be a dentist

This was a conversation I had with Jaxon at Pac meeting while they were interviewing all the dads about what they wanted to be when they grew up.

...and so baseball begins!

Well the baseball season has officially started. Jake is playing this year so we have 3 baseball players. I was pretty nervous about that because we were already really busy with two players last year. So far, things are working out very smoothly. Jadon and Jaxon practice 4 times a week but Jake only practices once a week. The good thing is that the practices are staggered just right. Jaxon starts at 5:00, Jadon at 5:30 and Jake at 6:00. So...I can drive the loop of the practices and drop them off and by the time the last one is dropped off I can start picking them up. Luckily Jake's practices are at the field right by our house to Kierra can take him if we have to. Hopefully everything will work this smoothly for the games that start in 2 weeks. We found out tonight at Jaxon's 1st practice that they are going to have him pitch. I'm excited for him but it makes me very nervous. He doesn't seem nervous about it at all. It's going to be a busy but exciting year. Yay baseball!!!

Well prepared scout!

Jadon and Dale went on a scout campout last night. I know, by the looks of things in the picture it looks like they were going for a week. I couldn't believe how much stuff they took for one night. Jadon had two backpacks crammed full. I shouldn't make too much fun of him because he was very well prepared. He has always loved camping and has tonz of things he likes to bring. I'm sure if anyone needed something at the campout, he had it!

A 9 year old's thoughts about Obama

The other day Kierra, who is 9, was trying to use my cell phone to call her friend. She asked me why it wasn't working. I had forgotten to tell her about 10 digit dialing. I explained to her that we have to dial the area code every time we call someone now. She said "Is it Obama again?"

a beautiful day!

Today was such a beautiful day. When I took the kids to school this morning there was snow on all the trees and mountains. The sun was shining on everything so it all sparkled. Because of the new snow, all the smog in the valley was gone and the sky was so blue. I don't usually take pictures of scenery (I like people in my pictures) but today I just had to pull over and take a picture of the beautiful day!
