Summer means...boys with buzzes

I never thought I would like my boys having buzzes. Before I had kids I didn't like kids with buzzes. I always thought they were trouble makers. Ever since Jadon got his first buzz when he was 3, I love them! They make my life so much easier and the boys are happier too because they don't get so hot. So all the boys lined up on the porch and we buzzed and buzzed and buzzed. I was very nervous to do Jake and Kyson because they are so blonde but I think they look cute. I love their little ears sticking out. No more combing the boys hair...at least until the fall!

It's finally summer!!!

We are so excited that it is finally summer and we can go swimming. We go to the Kearns pool on Fridays since it's early day and stay and play for hours. The kids have had such a blast! Kyson and Jake didn't have to get use to the water again. They have been very brave and I always have to make them get out when it's time to go home. They never want to leave. It's so nice to sit in the water and watch them have fun! I don't see Jadon and Kierra much because they swim in the pool with deep water most of the time.

Commercials really work!

I was doing the laundry today and was treating all the spots
with Spray and Wash. Jake came in and asked me what I was doing. I explained to him that this spray helped get all the spots out of our clothes. He said let me see what it is. I showed him the bottle and he said "Oh, that's Spray and Wash MAX with resolve power for your laundry." I asked him how he knew all that and he said he saw it on a commercial. He's so funny that way. He memorizes commercials all the time. I wish commercials taught you how to read and do math. He would wiz through school!

First one to get glasses

Because of my horrible eyesight, I knew at least one of my kids would have to get glasses. Kierra has been telling me lately that she can't see some of the stuff on the board at school. Then one day when I was volunteering at school, the aid for her class told me that she noticed she was struggling to see the board. I decided that I better take her in for an eye exam. Sure enough, she needed glasses. Her eyes aren't as bad as when I got mine in 7th grade. She was pretty excited about the whole exam and picking out the glasses. We had to wait for two weeks for the glasses to come in and she asked me every day if they had called to say they were in yet. Yesterday was the first day she wore them to school and she said only one girl teased her but it was her friend and she was only kidding. We think she's looks really cute and smart in her glasses!

Being a mom can break my heart!

Anyone who is a mother knows that there are moments in our lives where our heart really hurts. This week I had one of those. Baseball season is coming to a close and Jadon really wanted to try out for All-Stars (A baseball team made up of the better players. The teams plays in the summer). He asked me if he could and I told him he could as long as he understood the chances of not making it were good and he had to be ok with it. That very night Jaxon's coach called to let us know that he had been invited to try out for All-Stars. Until then, I didn't understand that you had to be chosen by your coach to try out. Dale and I were both very excited for Jaxon. His coach has really worked hard with him this season and he's improved a lot. We asked him if he wanted to try out. He didn't know what it even was. When we explained it to him he said "If I get to play baseball in the summer, then I'll try out." We were excited for Jaxon but felt very sad for Jadon. Jadon loves baseball and is very dedicated to it. Jaxon loves the sport as well but doesn't have to work as hard to excel and just has fun playing. It's so hard to be so excited for one boy without the other one feeling hurt by it. I talked to Jadon's coach about All-Stars and he said he was only allowed to pick 3 players from the team and the first two were a given. He was trying to decide between one boy and Jadon for the third player and the other boy ended up getting picked because his batting average was a little better. I tried to explain this to Jadon as something positive. He's worked so hard this year and improved so much and should feel good that he was so close. I don't know if he saw it that way. I want so badly for my children to be happy and it breaks my heart when they work hard at something and want something so badly and I have to tell them they just can't have it.

Orange socks!

Kyson's favorite color is orange. Everything has to be orange. If someone else has something orange, he says "but orange is MY color!". He has this pair of orange socks that he loves and wants to wear with everything. It doesn't matter what he's wearing. Most of you know that I'm a little freakish about matching. If the socks don't match the shirt, it just doesn't work. The other day he wore his orange socks with an orange striped shirt--cute. Yesterday he came running in with his orange socks on with some shorts. I asked him how he got the orange socks. He said "I don't know". I went into his room and his dirty clothes from the hamper were scattered all over the floor. Bet ya can't guess where those orange socks came from!
