Take me out to the ballgame!

Jadon had the greatest baseball game Friday night. I wanted to blog about it so that he won't ever forget it. I need to start out this post by saying that before his game I told him that my parents were coming to his game. He said "Oh no, I'm going to strike out then." He gets so nervous when someone is there to watch him. So the game is going pretty good. He was 7th on the batting line-up which usually means that he doesn't make it up to bat until the 2nd inning. The kids were doing a good job of hitting the ball so he made it up to bat in the 1st inning. It seems like he is always getting up to bat with 2 outs and bases loaded. That was the case this time too. First swing, strike! Then he looked back at me and my mom sitting behind home plate(my dad was sitting on the bleachers) and got ready to swing. He swung and hit the ball...hard! It sailed right over all the players heads and went almost to the fence!!! He started running and kept on running. When he got to third the coach told him to keep running. I think Jadon was shocked because he had to get his speed up again. I think he thought he was staying on 3rd. The coach told me later that he wasn't sure he was going to make it but thought it would be fun to take the risk so he told him to go for it. By this time the other team had the ball and was on there way to home to tag him. I was screaming "run, run, run!!!" He made it just in time and the other team didn't get him out. The crowd was all cheering. It was awesome! Unfortunately, his team was so excited that they all came running out to greet him when he came home and the ump called that as interferance and made Jadon go back to 3rd. It didn't matter. To me, and everyone else on the team, Jadon hit a GRAND SLAM!!!

6 months old!

I can't believe that Katie has been with us for 1/2 a year! It has gone by so fast and I know the time will continue to go fast. Katie's big accomplishment at 6 months is learning to sit up. I spent the weekend at my cabin (my mother's day/birthday present from Dale) and Katie learned how to sit while we were there. She kind of learned in one day. My niece, Brooke, came to help take care of Katie and she spent a lot of time playing with her on the floor and sat her up a lot and that was all it took. Katie continues to be the light in our lives. She was greatly missed while she was at the cabin for 3 days. The kids couldn't get enough of her once we returned. Some of our favorite things about Katie:
Her Yawn - when she yawns she lets out a heavy sigh the whole time she yawns
Her big blue eyes -They are so pretty especially when she is outside in the sun
Her smile - She loves to jabber and talk to us. When she is in the car she laughes and screams a lot. I really think she likes looking out the window
Her softness - We can't stop smothering her!

Oquirrh Temple

Last night Dale and I were able to go to the open house for the Oquirrh temple. My friend, Amy, is on the steering committee for the temple so she was able to get us in on a special guided tour. Amy came with us and told me so many interesting things about the temple. It is a beautiful temple with an amazing view of the city. After the tour we got to have a yummy dinner that was catered by Kneaders. Yummy! We got the chance to visit with Richard Hinckley while we ate. That was neat. I'm thrilled that I had this special oppurtunity and thank Amy for thinking of me.

Another year older

It was a beautiful day to turn 37 and I had a great birthday! It started out by the kids and Dale giving me a cake that they had all signed their names on with frosting.

They played a funny joke on me with the candles. After they switched the numbers around, they called me "Grandma" all day. Kierra said that I will be 73 when Katie graduates from highschool. I hope not!

Jadon played the piano in sacrament meeting and did a great job! After church, we had a yummy steak dinner and even ate outside. After dinner, we went on a little bike ride as a family. Dale didn't think that was a good Sunday activity but I made him go anyway. I got a new extension for my bike for Mother's day and it works perfectly for Jake. It was a beautiful evening and I loved being outside. It really was a great day. The best thing about it was the card I got from Dale. He wrote me a letter which he hasn't done in a long time and that really meant a lot to me. My family took good care of me for my birthday. I love them so much!

Mother's Day

On this Mother's Day I want to express my gratitude for two wonderful mother's. First, my own sweet mom and second, my wonderful mother-in-law. I feel so lucky to have two great mother's. My mom is a wonderful role model and has taught me so many things. She is always positive and never says anything negative about people. She is very selfless and will do anything to help any one of her family members. One thing that I really love about my mom is that she can always fix something. If something is broken, she doesn't just put it somewhere and say "I'll get to that later." She gets it done now. She always has what we need for projects and if she doesn't have it, she has an idea of something else that will work. She is so patient. I have only heard her get mad a few times in my life. She is the kind of mother that I want to be! My Mother-ln-law is also a very selfless person. She always makes sure that everyone else is happy and thinks of herself last. She is so organized. I wish my house was as clean and orderly as hers always is. I know that I can turn to her for help with anything anytime. I am thankful for how she raised her children. I think one of the reasons that Dale is so sweet is because of the relationship that he has with his mom. I am thrilled that she is happy living in Pocatello. She deserves everything she has. I am grateful to her for loving my kids like she does. She always hugs and kisses them. They all know how much she loves them!
I am eternally grateful for the oppurtunity I have to be a mother! It truly is what I want to be. I love my kids more than I ever thought it was possible to love someone. I want so much for them to be happy. My life revoloves around them and they bring me so much joy. I am lucky to be able to stay home with them and I thank Dale for making that possible. My kids were so cute today. They all gave me a gift certificate for a pedicure and a bunch of chocolate from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Kierra made dinner (with help from me) and Jadon cleaned up the messy kitchen. He said it was OK to do that on a Sunday since it was service. It was a great day!
