2 months old

Katie is 2 months old today. Time is flying by so fast! She is getting bigger and cuter every day. I took this picture of her hand because I want to remember how much I love her little clenched fists. She is starting to open her hands more and more and I know I will miss the little fists. Something that I already miss is when we would pick her up and she would tuck her little legs up under her stomach and keep them that way while we hold her. She has lost that newborn instinct that I love so much. She is smiling, talking and cooing all the time. It is so much fun that she knows who we are now. When Jake talks to her and she smiles back at him he says "She loves me mom!" Her big accomplishment as a 2 month old is sleeping for 5 hours straight. She has done that for the last 3 nights and it is fabulous. We are enjoying every moment with our sweet Katie. I've never known a more loved baby than her!

Katie's 1st trip to the photographer!

The first word that comes to mind is - nightmare. I guess I'll never learn how much I hate getting my children's pictures taken. I absolutely love pictures of my kids and put myself through this torture every time. Right when I walked in the door I knew it wasn't going to go well. It sounds horrible to say but the reason I knew that, was because it was a young guy that was working. Young guys have no idea how to get babies to smile! I was getting Kyson's 4 year old pictures taken as well so I had him go first. His pictures turned out fine. Another contributer to the nightmare was that I was getting Katie's pictures taken in her blessing dress. She doesn't really like getting dressed in the first place so when I'm trying to get her dressed in 6 yards of fabric, she isn't super thrilled. Now if I could have taken the picture, then she would have smiled. That's one of the hardest things for me when I go to places like this. Having done this myself for many years, it's hard to let other people take pictures of my kids. So the guy tells me to lay her on the table and he proceeds to pick her up and try to pose her. Didn't like that! Just tell me where to lay her and I will do it. So he's trying to take one of those pictures where her little arm is shoved up under her chin to help her hold her own head up. Not working! She starts crying and trying to get her arm free from his super tight grasp. Then he starts making those horrible noises that the photographers make and to top it off he starts banging his fist on the table to try and get her to look up. See what I mean about young boys trying to get a baby to smile. JUST TALK TO HER! He finally got three poses with one half smile but by this time Katie is screaming. Katie rarely screams. She must not like being pinned down with annoying noises going off in her face. That's weird! I had decided that I was going to leave her in her blessing dress and try to take some pictures myself at home. It took me 10-15 minutes to get her to calm down while I waited to look at the pictures. So I decide that I'm not going to buy any of her and just get Kyson's. Then the girl showing me the pictures gets them all set up in a pretty little pink montage and they look kinda cute. She must of known what a sucker I am! So I left Kiddie Kandids with the montage in hand, saying "see ya in a month" for Katie's 3 month pictures.

Jaxon's 1st scout derby

Last night we went to Jaxon's space derby. This was his first derby type event. For some reason our family doesn't have much luck with these. Our boys always have the cars, rockets, boats or whatever they are building, that come in last. I was very impressed with Jaxon though. In his first race, his rocket came in last. In his second race it came in 3rd and he came over to us and said "At lease my rocket came in 3rd this time" and ran off to see if he could do better in his last race. He doesn't get upset by stuff like that. He just had fun. Maybe by the time Kyson is in scouts we'll have it all figured out and take 1st in something. Hopefully by then the scouting program will figure out something to replace these events.

My Life in Photos

I got this idea from my sister's blog. For those of you who might read this, you should do this on your blog. It was fun to take the pictures and it's fun to read other's people's life in photos. 1. Taking the kids to school. I haven't done this much lately. Since I had Katie, Dale takes them most of the time. I did take them today. I like watching them run to their classes. It's Friday which is everyone's favorite day of the week. I love it because the kids go to school for part of the day so I'm able to get some things done. Then when they come home there is NO HOMEWORK!!! It's play day and everyone is happy.

2. Little buddies. Jake and Kyson are great friends! They really love their time alone when everyone else is in school. They play together the whole time. They do anything from coloring to playing super hereos to watching TV together. They even love eating lunch together. Kyson gets so sad when Jake has to leave in the afternoon to go to Kindergarten. I love their friendship!

3. Countertops. I have to admit that I am a little OCD about my countertops. I can't stand it when their is anything on them. I can't go to bed if the dishes aren't cleaned up and the counters washed off. If I do, I wake up in the worst mood and it's a terrible start to the day. I also can't stand it when the barstools aren't tucked under the counter. I know that I shouldn't let it bug me but I can't understand why kids tuck their chairs under their desks every time they get up at school but can't seem to remember to do it at home. I know it's kind of dumb that's why I said I'm OCD about it.

4. Changing Katie's diaper. This is a new huge part of my day. I change her diaper almost as much as I feed her. I would have taken a picture of me feeding her but no one wants to see that! I don't mind it though because her poop doesn't smell too bad yet and it's fun to change a newborn.

5. Cookies. I really really love cookies. They are a great weekness of mine. My favorites are sugar cookies made with sour cream but thankfully I don't have any of them right now. I could eat a cookie after each meal and never get sick of them!

6. Favorite room. Although I don't get to spend much time in there lately, my office is probably my favorite room in our house. I love the time I do get to spend in there because it's to do the things I love. Scrapbooking, sewing or working on my computer. I'm thankful I have this cozy little room!

7. Laundry. Monday is laundry day and this is what's left to put away. (Remember I'm creating this post on Friday) I really have a hard time getting the "whites" put away. I always wash the whites last. I've tried washing the whites first so I HAVE to put them away because I need the basket but I usually end up dumping the whites on the floor in our room so I can use the basket. I don't know if I just run out of steam by the end of the day or just decide it's easy enough to live out of the basket, but this happens frequently. It's a good day when I get all the laundry done and put away on Monday.

8. My spot. This is where I like to sit on our couch. It's a perfect spot for my computer and I like to check my e-mails, read BLOGs or play solitaire at night after the kids go to bed. It's a recliner so it's also a good place to take a nap while I hold Katie.

9. Self portrait. I'm not sure why I included this. I guess because that's what my sister did on hers. It's a little close but that's what happens when you take a picture of yourself.

10. My dream vacation. Right now it would be to take my kids to Disneyland. A long time ago we decided to excercise for as many miles as it takes to get to Disneyland. Once we reached the goal, we were suppose to go to Disneyland. We decided to wait until Kyson is tall enough to go on most of the rides. Jadon measures him every once in a while to see if he's tall enough yet. The little guy still has 1/2 an inch to go.

I hope that I see a post like this from some of you in the future!

A beautiful day!

Today was Katie's blessing day. It was a really nice day. Cold outside but still beautiful. Lisa came out to our house early to help with the food which made getting ready much easier. Gladys drove from Pocatello to be here for Katie. Dale gave her a beautiful blessing and she was happy all day. We had our families over to our house for lunch which was nice. Katie looked so cute. It is so much fun getting a baby girl dressed again. I love dresses, pink, hair bows and pretty shoes!

Funny new years comment

I forgot to put this with my New Years post. On New Year's Ever we were at the cabin with my family. A little while before midnight Jaxon asked me how many years Daddy and I have been married. I told him 13. He said "So that means you and Daddy have had to kiss 13 times?" Funny how 8 years olds view kissing.
