a long road ahead of us

After Katie recovered from her Urinary tract infection that she got when she was 3 months old, her doctor wanted to do a test to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with her anatomy. Well, she failed the test! We took her to Primary's on Friday for an ultrasound and an X-ray. When she had the ultra sound the doctor said that her left kidney was dialated so they put some die in her body through a cathater and watched on an X-ray machine as she went pee. It turns out that she has two tubes going from her kidney to her bladder on one side (she should only have 1). She has pretty bad urinary reflux. The radiologist said cases like this usually require surgery but said we should take her to see a urologyst. Before she had this test, Katie's pediatrician said that they would keep her on an antibiotic for a while to see if the problem fixes itself. I guess that's what we get for thinking that Katie was going to be out first child without some weird problem.

Wow!! Poor Katie and you. If there is anything we can do just let me know. I hope that the antibiotic fixes the problem, saving her from surgery. Good Luck
